Welcome! My story begins as a Korean adoptee who arrived in Minnesota to loving parents when I was three months old. I am so lucky to have experienced unconditional love and acceptance by my family. Despite all of the wonderful opportunities and support that I received from my parents, I remember that as a child I struggled with where I came from.  Two identities….worlds apart. I looked like one world and I felt like another. A life transforming journey back to Korea to meet birth family intersected both worlds and many mysteries of my heritage unfolded.

After returning from Korea, I spent the next two years processing the insights I gained from the experience. I talked with other adoptees and documented their stories and experiences.  The more I learned the more I wanted to know.  I chose to complete a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy. The insight I have gained from the combination of real world experience and education is invaluable to me.  I have always sought guidance from those who have walked in similar shoes and I hope to explore and share my empathy and knowledge with you.

I have extensive experience working with and developing techniques for adoptees and their families working through post adoption and attachment issues. I have worked with and advocated for adoptees and their families in a variety of settings including in-home therapy, mentorship programs, state adoption trainings, church adoption networks, public speaking engagements and private practice. You can also hear me speak on public and private adoption panels around the Twin Cities area on behalf of life INSIGHTS and the Resource Committee of Adopted Adults (RCAA).
